Pro Bono Therapy Services
Accessible clinical care for individuals and families who might otherwise go without support.
The Intentional Steps Pro Bono Department expands access to mental health care for people who are uninsured, underserved, or experiencing significant financial barriers. Clinical services are provided by second-year Master of Social Work interns under licensed clinical supervision.
Depending on clinical appropriateness and program capacity, services may include a comprehensive clinical assessment, individualized treatment planning, and ongoing therapeutic support. Each client’s needs, safety, goals, and fit for an intern-led level of care are reviewed before services begin.
To protect the quality of care and provide meaningful supervision, interns maintain intentionally small caseloads. Availability is limited, and a waitlist may be created when referrals exceed current capacity.
About Our Pro Bono Program
-
Eligible clients may receive a comprehensive clinical assessment, an individualized treatment plan, and therapeutic services delivered by a second-year MSW intern under licensed clinical supervision.
-
The program is designed primarily for individuals and families who are uninsured, underserved, or unable to access affordable therapy. Acceptance also depends on clinical fit, level of care, intern competency, supervision resources, and current capacity.
-
Clients are informed that services are provided by a graduate intern. Interns receive ongoing licensed clinical supervision, and all services follow agency policies, confidentiality requirements, and professional ethical standards.
-
Intern caseloads remain intentionally small to support responsible care and quality supervision. When all available openings are filled, eligible referrals may be placed on a waitlist. Placement on the waitlist does not guarantee admission or immediate services.
-
Our team reviews the brief referral, contacts the prospective client or guardian, and completes an initial screening. If the program is appropriate and space is available, we explain next steps and required consent documents. If a higher level of care is needed, we provide referral recommendations when possible.
