Hi there! My name is Brandee.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Associate. I was born in Baltimore, MD and relocated to Durham, NC during middle school to attend Durham School of the Arts where my love for sports and helping others emerged. I went on to pursue and earn a Bachelor of Science in Sports Studies, Master of Science in Kinesiology, and later on after working in the school system, I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
I am passionate about working alongside youth, young adults, LGBTQ+, and women as they navigate the highs and lows of life. I am also very passionate about working with athletes struggling with the demands, expectations and pressures of their sport, and assisting those whose identity is tied to their performance. I am actively ensuring the field of Sport Social Work advances by being a member of the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports, a research fellow for Athlete's for Hope, and co-creating a college athlete leadership academy partnering with HBCU's.
I use a person-centered, strengths-based and solution-oriented approach where I prioritize emotional intelligence, recognizing thought patterns, reframing limiting beliefs, and building tools clients need to manage stress, anxiety, and life transitions. I believe in creating a space where individuals feel heard, respected, and empowered to grow.
My favorite quote to live by is "if you don’t take the time to think about and analyze your life, you’ll never realize all the dots that are all connected." Outside of helping others, I enjoy spending time with my wife, traveling to the beach, and finding new ways to be creative and impactful.
